Forever Changed

Forever Changed

November 7th 2015 our lives changed forever with the unexpected and sudden passing of our beloved son Callum at  18 years of age .The loss completely  shattered our world and the thought of having to live each day without Callum is our reality.

For those whom did not know Callum he suffered a long battle with mental illness, depression and  anxiety.  He had low self-esteem and  lack of self-worth. Callum  generally just struggled with life.  Sadly extent unknown to us most of the time.

I look back in time of his childhood  and I see all the photos of a very happy little  boy always smiling and it is a reminder that we never know what someone is feeling inside, we only see the outside.

A  thought that stays with me daily ... Why a question I can never answer - I was busy doing my own life and you, were difficult .. I let go for just a day ..

How do you heal from  the devastating  loss of your child ? You  never do it's a life sentence you live every day for the rest of your life. The decision to dedicate my time and efforts to support and raise funds for local community projects in the focal area of mental health is not only a process of  continual healing but a commitment  to help support and perhaps change the course of another child's life through mentoring and helping to make a difference .

SMUK Foundation Fundraiser 2019

St Kilda PCYC

Special thank you to my family and friends and associates for supporting  the amazing achievements  this year- you have been a wonderful support and the generosity big and small is overwhelming .

We are extremely humbled and thankful to be able to present the achievements of 2018 - 2019 and the highlights of the fundraising effort for St Kilda PCYC at Carlei in October 2019.

We had 9 youth attend The St Duke Ed Award program in New Zealand in March  and the beautiful Ceasar came along and  expressed his heartwarming and raw gratitude as a participant this year - we were all brought to tears by his hardship but also his sincere thanks for the support and the rewarding program that he was able to participate in thanks to SMUK Foundation  and hear his story and journey through St Kilda PCYC.

With special thanks to all of our friends, family and donators -  we were  able to present a cheque for $13,000 that will facilitate a mentorship program for 12 disadvantaged youth from a low socio- economic background and at extreme disadvantage to participate in a mentorship program to learn valuable life skills and in turn opportunities for outcomes of job prospects to assist with life skills and personal development .

Special thank you to The James Marcon Foundation for your continual support , Henleader and Frozen Aire and Kellie Fernando - Bird  for capturing  the night - to all the friends who attended I feel the photos reflect the amazing buzz of energy and true support . Know that we are grateful and Callum would be thrilled of the outcome in his memory - look forward to the update in 2020  - commencement for youth in April 2020

Big hugs and thank you
